Emigdio Jarquín Ramírez learned the ways of mezcal production from his grandfather. Three generations of knowledge goes into each of his bottles. Perched at around 5,000 above sea level outside of Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, Emigdio’s palenque is about two and a half hours south of Oaxaca City in the arid rolling hills of the Nanche district.
