Born in Bratislava, Slovakia and currently living in Vancouver, Canada, Martin is an internationally-awarded wildlife photographer, cinematographer, drone pilot and guide with over 17 years experience.
Currently working for Matko Pictures Inc, AviaEye, and the One 50 Canada Society, Martin has spent the last five years working in the Arctic and Antarctic searching for new locations and studying animal behaviours. Specializing in the Canadian Arctic, his extensive work with polar bears has caught the attention of world-renowned magazines, organizations, and competitions like the Wildlife
Photographer of the Year and Siena Drone Awards.
Martin’s efforts and hard work with the polar bears paid off in 2021 when his six image collection took home the Rising Star Portfolio Award at the 2021 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in London, UK. This award be the third time Martin’s work has been recognized at the competition; in 2008, his picture “White on Blue” was specially commended while his image “Crane Perfection” won the 11-14 category in 2010.
Today Martin is a a full member of the ICG 699 where he works as a DOP and drone pilot; with over seven years experience operating drones in some truly remote and spectacular places across Canada, Europe, and the South Pacific. His company AviaEye is fully licensed by the Canadian Government to operate anywhere in Canada.
