Country: Bangladesh 🇧🇩
I’m Sohel Ahmed, a photographer from Dhaka, Bangladesh. My journey into photography began during my undergraduate years. What started as a hobby with a travel camera quickly turned into a passion. I was initially drawn to street and travel photography, captivated by the composition and momentum in each shot.
Over time, my interests shifted towards wedding photography, where I found immense joy in capturing emotions and timeless moments. Photography, for me, is a medium of self-expression. I resonate deeply with David Alan Harvey’s words, “Don’t shoot what it looks like, shoot what it feels like.” My aim is to evoke genuine emotions and memories through my photos, making viewers feel as if they are reliving the moment.
Throughout my career, my work has been featured in various international sites and national dailies. I’ve been honored with awards from prestigious competitions such as the International Photography Awards, Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year, Siena Creative Photo Awards, and Siena Drone Awards. My photos have also appeared in publications like 121clicks, Lensculture, Forbes.
Despite the challenges of pursuing photography in Bangladesh, where it’s not always seen as a conventional career, my passion has kept me focused. The best feeling for me is when my photos bring out emotions—be it a smile, tears, or nostalgia. I want my images to rekindle memories as vividly as if they were from yesterday, even after many years.
Inspired by legends like Steve McCurry, Alex Webb, and Vivian Maier, I continue to push the boundaries of my craft. Achieving my dream of shooting all over world.
Stephen Curry’s words inspire me: "It doesn't matter where you come from, what you have or don't have, what you lack, or what you have too much of. But all you need to have is faith in God, an undying passion for what you do and what you choose to do in this life, and a relentless drive and the will to do whatever it takes to be successful in whatever you put your mind to." For me, photography is where I find peace, happiness, and a true expression of my creativity.
