I was born in 1980 in Holon, Israel, where I still live today. Encouraged by my parents from a young age to pursue any artistic tendency, I started playing the drums at age 9 and have been an active musician until my late twenties. I was also interested in academic studies, earning a master’s degree in engineering from Tel Aviv University, where I later worked as a math lecturer. Nothing prepared me for what lay ahead, and I had no clue that my world would turn upside down in the years to follow.
It was sometime in 2008 that I first saw examples of the images which can be achieved with a DSLR. I immediately decided that I have to be able to shoot such pictures, and bought my first camera and lens. Fascinated with the tiny world of invertebrates, I started with macro - my first photographic passion. A year or two later I started shooting landscapes, and this, together with my love for travel, became a fierce obsession that changed both my private and professional life for good.
Today, my life revolves around nature photography, travel and everything that comes with them. I am admittedly addicted to traveling and seeing the world and everything it has to offer. I became a full-time professional in 2012 and I relish my career and lifestyle. I enjoy writing about photography, be it about my life and experience as a traveler and artist or about the creation of my images. I am a regular writer for DPReview.com, and I have been published in numerous world-leading magazines, as well as in National Geographic calendars and book. My images are also available as postcards throughout Iceland.
In addition to active shooting, traveling and writing I also dedicate a great deal of my time to teaching and guiding. I’m very privileged to be able to lead passionate photographers to the world’s most fascinating locations, and give them an experience they never forget. I don’t take it for granted that I probably have the best job on the planet, one in which if I have a vision of some amazing activities or places I want to visit, all I need to do is work hard, plan it and make it happen. I’ve been extremely lucky to have met some amazing people from all over the world, from helpful strangers to world-leading professional artists, and to be able to call them my friends.
