I am a retired veterinarian and life-long wildlife photographer. My background in veterinary medicine and animal care helps me interpret animal behavior which in turn helps me improve my wildlife photography skills. Nothing is too small or insignificant to photograph. If it flies, crawls, runs or swims, I'll attempt to photograph it.
In 2010, I obtained my SCUBA certification in order to expand my wildlife portfolio to include the underwater world. While I like to "work" any wildlife encounter to include as many different perspectives as possible from portrait to scenic, my preference is to shoot "wider and smaller" to illustrate the animal's relationship to the environment in which it lives.
I understand the healing and calming effect of viewing images of nature (i.e. stress reduction, decreased blood pressure). As such, my work decorates the interiors of many veterinary hospitals and I donate images to an organization that provides images to human hospitals worldwide.
