I've been a professional photographer for over 30 years and I'm always looking for new ways to shoot. Based on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand I'm surrounded by amazing scenery and coast lines.

I added a DJI drone to my equipment a couple of years ago because it gave a new angle on my subjects - I shoot a lot of farms and rural commercial work - so being able to get that bit higher than nearest hill has made a huge difference. Every job I go on I'm looking and thinking of new ways to get the drone in the air - if it'll add to the shoot of course!

My main passions in photography are still news and sport and I'm slowly working to integrate the drone into this sort of work. There aren't many opportunities to fly over competitions but I'm working on it! It has proven to be great for news work too.

Last month I was in Tokyo covering the Olympics and now I'm back in New Zealand in a full lock down waiting to get back out and shoot!

I'm a recent convert to the Sony Alpha mirrorless system (Alpha 1 bodies) and have found it to be an amazing system - the AF is just out of this world. Where the drone gives the elevation, the flip out screen gives me a low angle without having to lay flat - which is nice for old guys like me!
