İsmail Serhat Şahin was born in 1987 in Karahallı, Uşak, Türkiye. He has been working in the public sector since 2008. In 2023, he graduated from the Photography and Camerawork Program at Anadolu University. He is currently pursuing a degree in the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Ege University.

He has been actively creating photographic work since 2020. Focusing on documentary, travel, cultural heritage and everyday life photography, he has received awards, exhibition acceptances and shortlist recognitions in numerous prestigious national and international photography competitions, including the Siena International Photo Awards (2022), the Sony World Photography Awards (2023), the Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY), and the Turkish Photojournalists Association (TFMD) Press Awards (2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026).
