Galaxy Flamingos

Galaxy Flamingos
by Paul Mckenzie

Lesser Flamingos feeding in the shallow water, algae-rich mud flats of lake Natron. The yellow swirl consists of soda salts that numerous springs on the floor of the lake transport to the surface. The salt then precipitates and forms floes that drift of the lake surface. I took this image from a light aircraft with the doors removed on one side.
